Student nationals at Calshot so went down there to say hello to everyone. Was great to see all the Bristol gang.

Was thinking about going out on the Bee since it looked quite flat but everyone said it was howling and much choppier on the outside so out came the Quattro. They were right. Was OK for the first half an hour and felt quite comfortable with the sail rigged just about right. Some nice swell/small waves were lining up on the sandbank for some good jumping, and generally was having fun. But then the wind started to really pick up and kept on doing so until I was ridicuously overpowered and out of control.

Also the tide rapidly started to disappear so there was no water on the inside. Had to wade out a long way to the water, where the wind was even stronger. Gave it a go for half an hour but was too overpowered and kept on getting spanked, so gave up and came in.

That was about as windy as I've ever sailed in, on a par with the windiest days in Jeri, maybe more. Shame I didn't have a small enough sail to make the most of it.
